Board Reports:

Membership:  Gwen Smolik reported that cards were placed in tubes reminding residents that dues are due and on the reverse side is a list of  HACC events/activities.

Social:  Melinda Price reported that volunteers are needed for Valentine’s Day and Sock Hop events.

Bob Frank  Renie was not there but she had reported to the Board at Thursday’s meeting the following: 1) Last April the Board was told a new heater had been installed for the pool.  Now we know it was not a heater, but a heat pump.  The good news is that the building heater was malfunctioning and is now corrected and the pool heat has improved; 2) the sexual predator situation has been taken care of; 3) Primecast was approved by ELS and problems should be taken up with Renie, Primecast or Directv.

There were several issues that residents brought up over Primecast.  It seems that Directv is turning over all their Coquina accounts to Primecast, but Directv has not notified its customers of  this switch.  The board will work with Renie to solve this problem.

New Business:

Martha Drabiski presented Bill Sloan with an Award certificate for heading up the Library since 2003.  Martha also reported they purchased 30 new large print books.

Another resident brought up a problem with ducks in the ponds and droppings they are leaving on his premises.

Announcements: Dorsis Allan, President of the Ladies Club, made an announcement that on Feb. 16th at 1:00 pm the Ladies Club will have a guest speaker who will talk about her trip to China;  2)  Tom Griffin thanked the volunteers for helping with our Marcie Schomo Park, 3) Sock Hop tickets are on sale for $6; Valentine’s Day tickets are $12 and volunteers are needed, 5) Beach Badges are now on sale at the pier; and 6) There will be a Trivia night sometime in July.

JANUARY 18 MEETING

         COQUINA CROSSING HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

Minutes of Tuesday January 18, 2011

Special Meeting to Discuss Prime Cast

Bob Frank opened the meeting at 4:00.  Members present were Bob Frank, Shirley Finkelstein, Don Sabatini, Tom Green, Melinda Price, Bob Morel, and Gwen Smolik.  There were eight guest in the audience.

Bob Frank provided handouts explaining the functions of Connexion Technologies, Primecast, Direct TV, Excerpts from the prospectus, and options available to homeowners.

The handout basically explains that Connexion is the company providing the towers and underground cable.  Primecast supplies to services over these structures. Direct TV’s customer agreement states they have the right to assign your account to any third party with notice. Our prospectus states that both television and phone service are provided by independent contractors and will be the homeowners responsibility.

It was noted that HACC has not endorsed nor recommended Primecast or any TV, phone, or any service companies.

I apologize for any as the tape recorder malfunctioned during this meeting.  The following is based on my memory and notes taken during this meeting.

Suggestions were made to get reports from residents about Primecast.  Another suggestion is to put out a statement to ELS, Primecast, Directv, and the residents about this situation.  Maybe we need to seek legal advice was also suggested or at least contacting FMO on this matter.

The board and the residents present have heard many conflicting stories as to the service fees, service providers being not allowed to service residents in Coquina.  People are worried that ELS is taking away their choices.

The board’s conclusion is that Primecast and other TV service providers may not be aware as to what our rights are.  If you wish to have Comcast or Dish, you may and there have been residents that have switched to these providers.  If a service representative tells you NO, than ask for a supervisor and INSIST that you are allowed to chose your provider.
