THE APRIL MINUTES
COQUINA CROSSING HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
Minutes of April 10, 2009
President, Tom Green called the meeting to order at 3:02. All members were present, except Carl Hoefer and Pam Anderson.
Minutes: Motion was made by Bob Frank to accept the minutes, second by Chuck Stoner and approved.
Treasure’s report: Bob Frank reviewed his report. It was motioned to accept by Mike Rothfeld, second by Yvonne McCaw and approved. It was noted that a $900 invoice for food was still outstanding from the St. Patrick’s event. The quarterly budget review is good except for a shortfall of dues so the review was postponed until next quarter.
Membership: Betty reported that there were 250 paid members, 88 less than last year. We will continue to mention dues at the general meetings and decide on what avenue to take for next years dues collection by November.
Negotiation: No report.
Unfinished Business: None
Social update: Bob Frank provided a list of HACC events scheduled for the remainder of the year (see attached). It was noted that no HACC events are scheduled for July and August so a discussion followed about having an event for dues paying members.
Bingo: There was a discussion about how to counteract ELS’s directive to Renee to cease providing the $40 gift card to bingo due to a state statue interpretation. Suggestions were made to switch HACC’s expense of food and drinks with ELS. A motion was made by Bill Napper to approve HACC paying Renee the $40 for this week’s gift card. It was second by Michael Rothfeld and approved. Tom Green has requested a meeting with the new district manager to discuss this change.
Liaison: (1) the only report was that Renee now reports directly to the district manager. (2) Tom Larsen will make an inquiry to the State agriculture program about the effectiveness of the liquid fertilizer being sprayed on such a rainy day. (3) The Friday night pool incident, (i.e. someone using the pool to bathe) was discussed. (4) Tom Green will discuss with Geoff his prioritizing of his budget.
New Business: (1) Chuck Stoner inquired about the enforcement of residence houses being cleaned and well maintained. (2) Mike Rothfeld requested that the minutes reflect that he was "advised by our attorney that HACC dues, the garage sale, and bingo were not taxable." (3) Art Haase brought points of (a Renee, (b) Bradenton Meeting of homeowners’ association presidents, (c) need to update list of activity chairpersons, and (d) closing outdoor pool during holiday week.
Adjournment: Betty Henry motioned and Yvonne McCaw second to adjourn.
Respectfully submitted by: Don Sabatini, Secretary
